On a related note, there’s a side effect of my getting my interest in photography revitalized after I bought the KM5D in Jan 2007 and then D300 in April last year – and it’s that I hardly ever get myself in pictures anymore. I mean, of the bunch of vacations and trips in South Korea, Medang, Rawa Island, Phuket, Bali and San Francisco we’ve had since I got my DSLRs, I’ve been in pictures maybe just less than a dozen times on each occasion.
That’s why of late, I’ve started hoarding pictures I’m in. A colleague of mine was one of three photographers at last Thursday’s AIA Grand Finals, so I got a good look at how I look during the tournament.
Ugh– I stuck my hands in my pocket this year while addressing from the podium. First time I’ve done that. Usually when I address an audience in speeches that aren’t lectures, I place my hands on the podium stand: see bottom two pictures.
Think I know why. Like last year, I prepared a speech this year. But this time round I didn’t use it – I was entirely speaking off the cuff, but ironically was more relaxed. Must remember this in next year’s tournament!
Did you stuff your hands in your pockets subconsciously as a means to avoid reflexively popping any harassing teachers in their mouths? : )
No clue – that was the first time I’ve stuck my hands in my pockets while speaking.)
