Golden Tulip Incheon Airport Hotel and Suites

We stayed at the Golden Tulip Incheon Airport Hotel and Suites for a single evening as we were transiting through the city for our early morning flight home on Day 18. Our brief notes on it!

As our Day 18 flight out of Incheon is at 8:50AM, we went about finding a hotel that was close to a train station, and the train station itself needed to be near Incheon airport. We settled for Unseo Station, and found a number of hotels immediately around it. But like before, finding a property with a suitably sized family room limited our options, and that we needed just a place to spend a night meant that we didn’t want to spend too much. The Golden Tulip Incheon Airport Hotel and Suites property seemed to meet our requirements, and the rate was reasonable at SGD158 for a family-sized room (a ‘Royal Deluxe Family Room’ as it’s called).

Check-in was at 3PM, and the hotel was also able to hold onto our luggage before that time too. To note too: the hotel doesn’t have a private inner room to hold guest luggage. Rather, guests bringing the luggage themselves into an marked out area near to reception, and leave their luggage there. The area seems safe enough. And though this luggage storage spot isn’t in the reception counter’s immediate field of vision, I’m sure there are CCTVs monitoring the area. Nonetheless, there’s also a notice that says the hotel would not be responsible for any lost luggage, so you’d need to take it as is.

The ground floor is equipped with a mini-bar that offers a range of hot and cold beverages. Our room had three coupons for complimentary drinks from this mini-bar. There is also a Nice to CU convenience store literally right at the lobby: super convenient if you need a late night snack!

Our room is a 42 sqm and located on the 5th floor. The room has two queen sized beds that could sleep the four of us comfortably, a three person seat sofa, a small work desk, and a 42″ TV that had Netflix. Netflix has a life saver this trip – it gave the kids something to do while the adults blogged/checked/planned for the next day’s itinerary every night!

Our room directly faced the Airport Rail line: which is both a good and also bad thing. Good in that you can see the scheduled train stop at Unseo Station on its way to Incheon Airport, and bad because we could hear the rumbling of the train from our room! Thankfully, it wasn’t as bad as what we experienced at Toggle Hotel Suidobashi last year in Tokyo.

The room and hotel is quite clean but the design of the room itself feels a little dated. Interestingly, the toilet and shower stall area feels modern, and our room was equipped with a full-sized bath tub, a standing shower stall with rainshower and standard shower heads, and a toilet area equipped with a bidet. However, while the shower stall had a glass partition on one side, it didn’t have a door nor shower curtain at the entrance. Coupled with the fact that the shower head jet was putting out water with a fair bit of pressure, the floor outside the shower stall quickly became wet with excess water spillage. The floor became really slippery!

The hotel also offers its own complimentary shuttle bus service to Incheon Airport for its guests. The earliest timing we could book at the reception was a 6AM, so we went for that. If you need to be at Incheon airport even earlier, I reckon you’d need to catch a cab: but the hotel is right in front of Unseo Station – it’s literally just 2 minutes walk away – and we saw several cabs right at the driveway outside the hotel lobby and also around the station waiting to pick up fares. The shuttle bus service was OK in that it got us where we needed to on Day 18 morning, but there were a couple of issues which I’ll write about in the next post.

The hotel has a mini-bar at the ground floor, and the 24 hour Nice to CU convenience store is beside it.

In all, this was a comfortable stay for the one night we spent, considering the great location – it being so near Unseo Station – and alsothe wide range of dining options around the station. The spilling of water outside the shower stall though was a problem that we tolerated since this was a single night stay, but might be a real issue if you’re staying for longer. So, in short, a qualified recommendation from us.
