Shoo Shoo

I love shoes. :)  My mom would attest to that. I used to own many pairs of various types of footwear after I became financially independent. :)

I think that a comfortable pair of shoes make your day. Wearing a good pair of shoes is like giving your feet a good massage. The whole body feels ready for the day. Do you know that our soles have high concentration of nerve endings? If these nerve endings kept getting stimuli of pain from wearing a pair of ill-fitted or poor quality shoes, the rest of the body would feel miserable as well. As for me, my mind and body would be worn out by wearing such shoes.

Since Hannah has started walking, shopping for toddler shoes is my favourite pastime now. Unfortunately, the variety at our heartland shopping malls is limited. Kiddy Palace sells shoes that come in many designs but most of them could cause discomfort to the wearer. Other factors to consider besides comfort are traction of the soles and weight. Take it from the mama here, she has suffered in all kinds of sub-standard shoes. :)

  1. Hi Tricia,

I bought this pair from Kiddy Palace at Compass Point shopping mall. Not sure if they still carry this design but last I saw they still carry this brand Shoo Shoo. BTW, this is a prewalker type of shoes. The soles are leather and thin.

You could also find similar prewalker shoes at Mothercare outlets :)

  2. but is suitable for going out? where to buy a comfortable one for 1 year old?

  3. Hi Tricia,

We let Hannah walk in this pair at shopping malls when she just started on walking. However, I don’t recommend walking on rough surfaces such as roads.

Hannah is currently wearing Crocs Mary Jane shoes. I ordered it from Singapore Motherhood forum online (under ‘overseas spree’) In the beginning, she tends to trip quite a bit – perhaps it was too roomy for her. She had another pair with the cartoon character dora or something. It is a better fit but also gave her a bit of soreness on her big toes. If you’re willing to spend on shoes, try See Kai Run shoes. I really like their flexible soles and leather coverings. These shoes are available at some Kiddy Palace and Mothercare outlets. Pediped shoes are also quite popular amongst mothers here. Mothercare carries this brand. I know that the Singapore Motherhood overseas spree also bring in this brand. Although it is cheaper, you have to be willing to wait for about a month for the shoes to arrive. Buyers (who are mothers) usually bring their kids to try out the shoes from a local store first before confirming the size online.

When buying shoes, it is best to let your baby try them on.

    Hope the above helps. :)
