Day 13 @ Seoul – Sunset at Tando Port

The missus did quite a bit of research to find tide timings at Tando Port, just so that we would be able to walk the paved surface that cuts across the mudflats to see the wind turbines, and also catch the sunset. We were lucky to be able to do both today. We were already in the area by mid-afternoon, but hung around in a nearby Mega Coffee outlet and only started our walk across the pavement at around 4:30PM. Sunset was at 5:15PM, so we were all ready to capture the beautiful scenery at that timing. Pro-tip: be watchful of when the tide returns: because we saw some visitors who were still at the far end of the walkway scurrying to get back to the port as the tide was coming in and covering sections of the walkway already.

Korea’s longest cable car system from a distance.
At 4:30PM.
Standing below the first of the three huge wind turbines, They weren’t turning as I guess there wasn’t enough wind.
Lots of planes landing and taking off from Incheon International Airport further up to the north.
At 4:50PM.
At 5:03PM and before the setting sun got obstructed by the hill on Nue Island. You can also see the island’s Lighthouse Observatory at the far distance.

We left the Tando Port at 5:10PM for us to begin the drive back to Seoul. Distance wise, it wasn’t that long: 60km or so is my guess, but traffic slowed to a crawl at several junctures, and we only returned to Seoul Station at 7:15PM. It’s a free day for us tomorrow on Day 14, as the earlier Klook day trip we’d booked had had dropped the visit to Wondae-ri Birch Forest because of adverse traffic conditions on the roads to get there. We were provided an alternative itinerary to Mt. Sorak that we’d visited before and didn’t want to redo. So, we opted to cancel the day trip altogether.

To be continued!
