Day 13 @ Seoul – Seohaerang Jebu Marine Cable Car and Jebudo Island

We left the Irwol Botanical Garden at 11 AM, and drove for 45 minutes to reach the Tando Port Area. The Klook itinerary was for us to find lunch in the area first, but it seemed like our driver misunderstood and instead drove us to the Seohaerang Jebu Marine Cable Car station for us. There is a cafe selling overpriced pastries and beverages at the ground floor, another cafe on the second floor which does bread type pastries and also a convenience store as well. This cable car system is the longest in Korea, running for 2.12 kilometers above the sea around Jebudo Island, and connected to Jeongok Port. It was low-tide at the early afternoon timing when we took the cable car ride, so it was largely mud flats below us.

Jebudo itself is a small island that is accessible by a couple of ways: by cable car system – which I suspect is used only by tourists and visitors – by road, and also apparently by a foot path that is accessible at low tide. To be honest, there wasn’t much on the island itself at least during this winter season, aside from seafood type restaurants, cafes and a couple of convenience stores. There were a few visitors about exploring the area, but they all looked like locals. Clearly, this island isn’t a well-known or popular place to visit for tourists!

Comments and pictures:

The Kissring offers very large bread pastries that cost around 8000 to 9000 won. There’s a garlic bread – which Google Translate said it was a ‘Pope bread’ (?!?!) – and cheese bread.
It was low tide and a huge mud flat area below us.
There is a self-service ramyeon station on the second level.
A free shuttle bus services runs a loop around the island. The bus service runs every 30 minutes and is hop-on-off.
The lack of English translation shows that this island really isn’t frequented by tourists.
Few visitors about on this sunny but cold afternoon.
GS25 convenience store for us to get some light grub while the missus and son went about exploring the mudflat.
The wind turbines in the distance from the cable car.
There is a piano on the second level of the cable car station on the island. Played a couple of Korean song: when in Korea, must only play Korean songs. The upper floor is a roof top terrace with mini golf courses: fun for the kids!
Most of these cars were empty. There were few visitors about this Thursday afternoon.
The road connecting Jebudo island to the mainland.

There wasn’t really that much to do on the island, so we took the return cable car at 2:30PM and went about to find a place near to Tando Port for a very late lunch. Our day’s activities are concluded in the next post!
