Day 03 @ Busan – Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge

It’s a short 5 minute walk from the Songdo Sky Park Station to theĀ  Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge, a steel structure that connects Amnam Park to Dongseom Island, a tiny island with the bridge platform essentially running the circumference of the island. From what we read, this suspension bridge is relatively new after the old Songdorum Bridge that was built in 1965 was damaged in typhoons, and demolished in 2002. For persons who’re afraid of heights or walking on shaky contraptions, rest easy: the suspension bridge feels rock solid, and there is safety fencing all around. You honestly would have to be trying something seriously stupid to hurt yourself in an accident!

There are rock formations at both the side of Amnam Park, and also Dongseom Island, and the area is inhabited by numerous cats too. We spotted a couple of anglers on the steep cliffs fishing as well. That looked pretty dangerous, as a slip would mean major trauma damage on those very hard rocks!

Amnam Park.
We were among the first visitors this morning to the bridge.
Cliffs and rock formations can be observed up close from the bridge.
The bridge itself isn’t very long: you’d likely cover the entire route in 15 to 30 minutes.
The wife, as always, finding all kinds of interesting flora to take pictures of.
Angler enthusiasts braving the steep cliffs.
Spotted a number of very tame felines on the park grounds.

The Busan Visitor Pass covers a return trip with the Songdo Marine Cable Car. Before you take the car back from Songdo Sky Park Station though, take the lift to the top floor of the Station to the observation deck. It’s an open area with numerous interesting statues and art pieces to take fun poses with, and also uninterrupted views of Busan city and also the sea.

We next took a cab up north for our next place: the Running Man Busan theme park: blogged in the next post!
