Day 04 was a pretty heavy day, itinerary-wise, for us. The planned schedule was for us to check out of our resort in Moalboal early morning, then drive off to the jetty where we’d boat over to Pescador Island for snorkeling in the morning, followed by canyoneering at Kawasan Falls, and finally returning back to the main city of Cebu in the evening.
Pescador island is a popular site for snorkeling, including observing sardine schools and turtles. As with the other places we’ve been to for amateur-level snorkeling though, most of the corals we saw were already dead, so the first stop for us to snorkel was disappointing. Waters were fairly clear, but there was little marine life and no few living corals.
The second stop was where we saw the sardine schools and turtles, and the kids were treated again to something new. The area was a little congested though with many other groups also participating in the same activity, but it was nonetheless enjoyable and we got pretty good videos from the experience. Photos were a very different story though: the Olympus TG-5 struggled to focus in the mid-morning lighting! Like the whale watching activity, your boat driver and host will assist to help you take videos, so you just need to pass them your gear and let them know if you have specific preferences.
Pictures and also a short video of the sardine schools.
