Roller-coaster amusement parks aren’t our normal thing: the missus and myself certainly don’t have the thrill-seeking gene. And while the daughter is always willing to try new things and heights don’t faze her in the slightest, she’s also not the type to go out of her way to try dangerous stunts either. Still, the Mt. Fuji 3 Day Pass included one free ride at Fuji Q Highland, a theme park that is located at the base of Mt. Fuji. So, why not. The only space we could find to squeeze in a quick visit to this park was on Day 01 late afternoon, so we hustled over from Honcho Street to the park and reached it at 5PM – the closing time is 6PM – and went for the one ride that we were all OK with: the Ferris Wheel.
The park was opened in 1968, and the age really does show. The Ferris Wheel ride was fairly short at about 10 minutes, but no complaints since its admission price was already included in the pass. There are several eating places in the park too if you’re up for a bite. The park also saw fairly few visitors, though it might be busier during day hours and on weekends. In summary: if you already have the Mt. Fuji Pass and the ride is included, go for it: the park is just one stop away from Kawaguchiko Station.
Pictures!
That’s a wrap for Day 01. Day 02 continues tomorrow!
