We were on a hunt for a buffet lunch for our wedding anniversary staycation, in part curious how buffet dining experiences have changed since the start of Covid 19. And after the usual checking around for timings and pricing, settled for Spice Brasserie, located at the PARKROYAL at Kitchener Road hotel. The restaurant currently sits at #13 of 9,732 establishments on Tripadvisor – which makes it the most highly rated restaurant we’ve been to in Singapore haha. The buffet offers a variety of Asian street food items, divided into different sections, including Charcoal Grill, Claypot, On the Griddle, Rice and Noodles, Tandoor Station, Cold Favorites, Hot Favorites, and Desserts. The same menu is served for both lunch and dinner, and priced at SGD58 and SGD29 for adults and children, but there is also a 20% discount for UOB Credit Card holders. You can get a slightly bigger discount of 25% if you were to make reservations at Eatigo.
Now, we’re not food bloggers so can’t wax lyrical on dining. But we came out of our lunch experience very impressed at both the quality of food, ambiance, service – especially from the wait staff manager Kenneth – and the price we paid for – just over SGD10 taking on board the UOB card discount – was well worth it too. Covid 19 measures meant though that patrons don’t go to food counters and haul as much of what they want. Rather, one ticks off what you’d like to have on a printed menu, and the items are brought to you. We actually found such a buffet concept not only refreshing, but also very personalized, and the food is served fresh and hot. The time we went – Saturday lunch at noon – also saw fairly sparse crowds, an observation that was also confirmed by Kenneth when I asked. By the time we left at 1:30PM, the restaurant only seemed at half of its revised seating capacity.
On the overall, Spice Brasserie gets an easy recommendation from us. We were so stuffed we could barely managed dinner that night. Onto pictures!
