For H and P, the most memorable part of our day trip out of Sapporo wasn’t the two lakes – it was a twenty minute stopover at Mushroom Kingdom Otaki, a family owned restaurant and also stop for a rest break. As luck had it, we had several minutes of snowfall that further layered the already several inches of snow in the area. Aside from the requisite family wefie, the kids did snow angels, slid down snow slopes, made what looked like part of a snowman, had snow fights, and threw snow up, sideways, let it drop etc. – all in the space of twenty minutes. Plenty of memorable pictures in this short activity. The Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 fared well and the images look extremely sharp – not to mentioned that it allows an additional full stop of light compared to the Sony FE 24-105mm f4. However, AF on the Tamron seems slightly hesitant, even in good light. The Sony lens would trigger eye-AF quickly and drive the lens motor near instantly in comparison.
Still, this segment wasn’t too demanding on the lens, and I alternated between different drive modes – and also having learned my lesson during the visit to Shinjuku Gyoen where I attempted to capture images of ours kids throw leaves about, the AF mode this time was set to single AF.
Pictures!
That’s a wrap for Day 08. We’ll be headed to Otaru for a day trip on Day 09 tomorrow!
