Our next stop was the Tirta Empul, known to locals also as the Water Temple. The Balinese come to bathe at the temple as they believe the pool water to have purification powers. I was initially really uncertain about taking shots of devotees until OKed by Nyoman. This is clearly an important ritual for the locals, and they exuded such obvious joy in it. There was a local ceremony going on at the same time, which provided also other picture opportunities. A small selection again follows, with the first two photos in the series from a quick stopover on our way to the temple when we spotted some dramatic morning sun rays shining through the trees. There’s also a picture of Nyoman with the house dog too below.
