Interestingly, like the last week, things at our Minton renovation went by very quickly in the first half of the week only to go back into lull in the latter half. The first and base coat of paint were laid by the end of Wednesday, but no progress was observable thereafter. Not that we’re complaining, since the project is still on schedule. We did get more shopping for furnishing done though.
Pictures as always. The first couple are our progress as of Day 15 – two weeks after our renovation started.
We returned to both Ikea and Comfort Design too this afternoon to find a few more furnishing items. Ling liked the Ribba range of photo frame shelves she saw at Ikea from previous visits, and planned for a couple of these to be installed into the foyer of our Living Hall. The picture here is a rough match against our the color of our wall at the Living Hall feature wall even. Ling couldn’t quite decide whether to go with black or white colored shelves though. I thought black looks better, and I fear that white will not be white for very long for Ikea-type shelves.
We decided on fabric and mesh-netting type of chairs too, and picked up three of them for our work room. These chairs are originally fitted with rollers. We were looking specifically for chairs that aren’t on rollers, so were delighted to learn that the store will swap rollers with normal rubber foot stops for additional costs. The below cost $140 with an additional $25 for the feet swap.
We still have a few more chairs left to buy. The outdoor ones for the balcony, and high-chairs for the dry kitchen.
you getting plastic mats for those chairs too? Whether or not they are on rollers – still wise when chairs gets pushed around on wooden floors – unless yours is not wooden.
Our current place uses Ikea Kolon floor mats for our roller chairs in our workroom, but we’ve got mixed feelings about these plastic mats. Basically, there’s a very sticky residue that grows between the mat and parquet flooring over time that’s very tough to remove. Probably coming out from moisture and dust that collect between the mat and the floor that never evaporates or gets cleaned up. We’re gonna try going without floor mats for a change and see how that goes this time round.
