The Minton: Ideas and Renovation – 25 – Day 13

Paint work has started in our Minton home renovation project! Slightly earlier than I’d expected, but all good nonetheless. Ling went by for an afternoon visit, meeting our designer and lead carpenter for discussions and also final measurements for woodwork, and also to take delivery of the whole bunch of fans we’d ordered a week ago from Tai Yong. Three workers were in different areas of the house painting and they were about it very briskly. No wonder our designer had earlier on stated that painting wouldn’t take more than 2 days.

The four colors in our home will be dominantly Sail White, with selected walls painted in Pebble Path, Mole, and Persian Silk. The color samples below are a little off though – they look more contrasty than what you might be seeing below.

In case it’s hard to see from this picture here, the color Ling chose for this wall is Pebble Path (Nippon Paint). Most of the house will be painted in Sail White.
We’d just chosen the cornice style for our Master Bedroom’s ceiling lat Saturday, and was surprised to see it so quickly done. One side of the Master Bedroom will be painted in Mole too.
A closer look at the cornice. I’m assuming this was prefabricated elsewhere – otherwise how would the workers have been able to fabricate such intricate ceiling patterns on the spot!

This fellow was shuttling between rooms. He’s painting the ceiling beam in our work room here…

… and just a few minutes later, he’s in the children’s room painting edges in the Persian Silk color.

We’ll be picking up the balance of our lights tomorrow – a couple of children’s wall-lights for Hannah and Peter’s room and an armful of T5 fluorescent light tubes with holders. More to come soon!
