Incredibly, it’s been more than 4 years since our blog posts about our choices for our first born child’s name. We should be knowing the gender of Hannah’s sibling soon – probably anytime from a couple more weeks onwards. I’m hoping it’ll be a girl again, not just because it’ll be loads more convenient, but simply because daughters are a lot of fun for daddies. Maybe I’ll change my mind later when she starts dating, but in the mean time, my first choices for a baby girl’s name haven’t changed from when we were deciding for Hannah:
Agnes (Greek) – pure, virginal
Esther (Hebrew) – secret, hidden
Emma (Hebrew) – the female version of Emmanuel
Ling always has different perceptions about children names though and which are the ‘in’ ones, since she teaches school-going children. She did muse aloud just now though that if our surnames were Ching, the one name we should never choose for a baby girl would be ‘Monica’.:)
LOL! Took me a second to catch that. :)
Haha! Well, the name in dialect sounds suspiciously like “caress your backside”. Likewise, if our next girl was named ‘April’, she’d be the likely target of loads of teasing as a school going girl.=)
Of the above three, Ling doesn’t like ‘Esther’, and she says ‘Agnes’ would make our girl sound like a 50 year old Auntie. =)
Okay, I was way off then. :)
Actually, the surname that’s really perfect for teasing was Chng – Monica Chng :P
