We are very fortunate that Yang’s parents often buy us those big and sweet honey mangoes as and when they do their grocery shopping at their nearby wet market place. Hence, the three of us get to enjoy good quality mangoes regularly.
Of late, we have too many fruits in the refrigerator waiting to be consumed. I decided to convert some of the mangoes into a dessert and ta-da, the mango pudding was born. The recipe used was from ‘Food 4 Tots’. The author is a mother who shared many useful tips on cooking. She took great photos to illustrate her recipes which I found to be especially helpful for amateur cooks.
Yang’s feedback: The pudding tasted as good as restaurant quality, just need to improve on the texture. Perhaps I added too much gelatin or whipping cream. It was tough to weigh 9g of gelatin powder as my weighing balance was not that sensitive. *hint hint at darling*
My verdict: It tasted as good as the mango itself. Why bother to make the pudding then? Hmm, just eat the actual mango lah. Hee hee. :P
get a digital weighting scale. I can’t live without mine! ;p
Hi Wendi,
I just ascertained that the coarse texture was due to using twice to thrice the required amt of gelatin powder!!! Must get a digital scale. I heard that Phoon Huat sells it at a cheaper price as compared to other places. Where did you get yours? Those selling at Taka are going from $80++!
ya, mine is from Phoon Huat also. It’s about $30+. Can’t remember was it $36 something or what. If you want I can get it for you since I go there often.
Thanks, Wendi! If I couldn’t get one soon, I’ll bother you. Hee hee :)
Hi Wendi,
I got my digital scale liao! Found it at the Phoon Huat outlet in Hougang :D It is $36. Cheap cheap :P
yeah! so when can I try some mango pudding? haha… juz kidding!
@ Wendi: If the next batch turns out better, I’d bring some over :D
