Something weird happens whenever we travel. The instant we’re back in Singapore, we begin planning for the next vacation! :)
It’s no different this time too, and I’ve been working out some basic costing and preliminary itineraries on a trip for the three of us. It’ll be our first ‘family’ vacation, and Hannah’s first trip out of the country too if we’re stepping out of Singapore. I’m toying with a June 2011 time of travel, as that period will work best for Ling. I’m mindful of how far Hannah can travel, how long a ‘test’ vacation like this should be, whether the place we’d be going to is child-friendly, and also that there should be sufficient family-centric activities too.
I’m skeptical if Hannah is going to be able to handle anything more than say a 3 hour flight. So, we’re gonna be able to travel up till about Bangkok and not beyond. So, here’s the current plan for a 4 Day 3 Night short vacation:
Pulau Redang, Laguna Redang
Phuket, Club Med
Sabah, Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort
Langkawi, Casa del Mar
All are reachable under 2.5 hrs flight time. The latter two places look especially tempting, though in both cases the experience will largely be centered around relaxing and stoning in front of a sea and Orang Utans (maybe) and less about sight seeing.
More plans to come later. And if all fails, there’s always Sentosa… or Bintan. :)
This is hilariously coincidental, but just last weekend I was checking out the rates for a brief stint in Langkawi. I don’t see how you could do wrong with any of the above possibilities, especially given the fact that you’ll just want to relax.
Yes, near is good! :) We’re planning a trip with Gabrielle to Penang during the March school holidays! 1h flight- hopefully she’ll be comfortable…
