As good as dinner at Kappazushi was last evening for us, we were again determined to find that elusive Musashi sushi restaurant. After all, if it’s rated #7 of 768 restaurants in Kyoto according to Tripadvisor, it must be really good! We knew that this restaurant was roughly in the same vicinity as Kappazushi, i.e. in the Kawaramachi area. So, after our exploration of the Arashimaya, we headed back near to the Karasuma/Kawaramachi area to look for this elusive restaurant.
And we did find it without too much difficulty after all! In fact, this restaurant is less than 20 meters away from Kappazushi LOL. We went in at about 11:00 AM where there still wasn’t much of a crowd, and by the time we’d walked out with full tummies, the place was packed. The restaurant charges a flat 137円 per plate – more expensive than the 105円 its competitor was charging yesterday. But the sushi was distinctly better tasting.
We makan-ed 15 plates – compared to 12 of yesterday LOL – for a total bill of 2,050円. More expensive than Kappazushi, but still relatively cheap compared to places like Sakae Sushi, and significantly better tasting too. Ling was joking that our Missouri bud Matt would go absolutely berserk in this restaurant.:)
Our rating is a solid and very close to five stars!
too bad chris doesn’t like sushi or sashimi =( so i hardly get a chance to eat it in Japan… when they serve it at a ryokan, he’d cook his sashimi while i pretend i don’t know him (which is difficult cos we’re seated at the same table and stay in the same room) LOL
Ugh; what a pity! The sushi that comes off these belts are pretty good at Musashi, and even Kappazushi. It’s hard to go back to Singapore after this and see conveyor belt sushi that’s even more pricey in the same way again.:(
