This is a good find for the price we paid.
Frills aside, let’s zoom in to the hotel room.
What Yang likes:
- complimentary internet connection in the hotel room
- a long business- like desk for his laptop
- a comfortable revolving chair with a back rest
- a secure feature for him to chain up his laptop
- mutlti power-points conveniently located on the desk
- functional air-conditioner
- toilet seat with built-in heater, spray and bidet
- deodorizer spray for clothes
What I like:
- comfortable bed, pillows and warm quilt
- more room for walking
- a comfortable stool
- a warmer behind an area of the mirror to prevent it from fogging up during shower so that one doesn’t have to wipe the condensation away in order to use the mirror
- hair brush instead of a comb
- a small platform at the head of the bed for putting small items such as watches, creams, handphone, etc
- bigger mugs for beverages
- elegant day and night curtains
Okay, the frills. The main plus point is the public bath situated on the first floor. Vending machines are located on every level.
Location-wise the hotel is near the busy Shijo street where one can find places for meals and shopping. The hotel is within a few minutes’ walk to Karasuma Station and also Shijo subway. We have been taking advantage of the 500 yen all day city bus pass to do our sightseeing in Kyoto. The hotel provided us two really useful maps: the Kyoto city map and the city bus routes. Once you get a hang on reading these maps, travelling around Kyoto is relatively stress-free. Plus every city bus has an electronic screen which informs its passengers the name of the next bus stop (which corresponds with the name on the bus map).
All in all, we would give this hotel…
