Cambridge and Abouts – Part 1

The home I’m putting up is in Cambridge, a college town that’s dominated by Harvard University, MIT and other college campuses. The home is an about 8 minute walk to the subway station (which itself is 4 stops away from MIT).

One of the things I’ve been most looking forward to in my visit here is New England architecture, and spotting the different styles of buildings that came with the early American architects from the late 18th century and the influences that they brought with them into their designs. E.g. Colonial, Georgian, Federal and Greek-revival style.

My daily walk to and fro goes through one such neighborhood filled with such residential homes, many of them stunning. Here’s a selection of pictures – all taken as I walked to the subway stop this morning. Starting with the first three taken of the home I’m staying at:

  1. It’s a very quiet neighborhood. At night, it’s extremely quiet with only crickets sounds to be heard.:)
