Hannah: “Dah DAAAAAHHHH Di!”

And Ling’s not thrilled! No kidding – Hannah has learned to call Daddy first before Mommy LOL. Not that her diction’s perfect yet though, but it sure is sounding really close. She won’t say the words on demand too regardless of how much coercion coming from the both of us, so we have to be pretty alert to hear say those words.

A couple of pictures from the weekend: Ling had a soon-to-expire Crystal Jade Kitchen voucher, so we had dim sum for brunch on Saturday at the restaurant’s Tampines Mall outlet. Maybe it was just the outlet, but we found the dim sum somewhat underwhelming (we had much better at their Toa Payoh Central outlet previously).

Yeah she’s more interested in sucking on her toy than Crystal Jade Kitchen’s dim sum. Bummer!

And Sunday brunch with parents, and cousins Natasha and Jonathan.:)

  1. Hi both! That’s an exciting new development :) Don’t worry, Ling, Hannah will get round to enunciating ‘Mum mum’ very soon too!

Hey just wondering, did you have any difficulties installing your Britax car seat? We tried to install our Britax Safe n Sound rear-facing… seemed not to be able to get it to be very stable… did you have the same problem?

  2. Lisa: now that you’ve asked about it, we did have difficulties installing our Britax car seat too. Initially it wasn’t stable too. Took us a couple of tries, but Ling managed to get it secured finally after some trial and error. There’s time though, since it’s still at least a few weeks before your newborn girl goes for her first car ride in the car seat.

We’ll take a couple of pictures later of how we secured it and let you know soon.:)

  3. Hi Lisa,

    Our model is Omega.

After reading the instruction manual, it got me really confused and so I just took a hard look at the infant seat and noticed that there were stickers of instructions pasted on the sides. To cut the long story short, I placed the infant seat directly behind the front passenger seat. I inserted the seat belt through 2 slots located somewhere below the infant seat. The slots, one on each side of the seat, each has a catch to fasten the portion of seat belt that went through it. Once I managed to channel the seat belt through both slots, there was just enough length of belt left to reach for the buckle to fasten it. That was it. Not very steady though as the infant seat can slide sideways slightly. But so far, when Hannah’s in the seat, the whole thing didn’t move much whenever we were on the road. Due to the design of Latio car seats, the infant seat is always slightly unleveled, i.e. slightly slanted to one side.

BTW, you might want to place a thin towel/cloth below the infant seat to protect your car seat cushion.

Has Joerg passed his driving test yet? Are you guys thinking of using the infant car seat the day you and baby are discharged from the hospital? :D I feel so excited whenever I think that Gabrielle is going to be born! :D

  4. I meant our infant car seat’s brand is Britax and the model is Omega. :)

I’m okay that Hannah’s not babbling ‘mommy’ yet :) I chose to teach her ‘daddy’ first :) She looked intently at me pronouncing the word and repeated after me.

  5. Hi both, thanks for your helpful tips! Yes we did notice that the carseat tended to be slanted to one side quite drastically the first time we tried to strap it in. Then we realised that we were probably using a padding that was too thick underneath, and switched to a thinner pad. Ling, what you described sounds like what we did, so I guess we’re on the right track… maybe there’s just no baby inside so it’s not that stabilised.

Joerg passed his driving 1st time off- thank God for that :) He’s already clocked in 2000 km since passing in Nov. So we’ll be bringing baby Gabrielle home (or rather to mum & dad’s place in upper Bukit Timah) after the hospital.

2 more days!! Am praying she comes out on Wednesday, and that there will be no need to induce… that it will be a natural delivery – with epidural, ahem! :-p Just don’t like needles!

Ok will keep you guys posted on the arrival! In the meantime, God bless!!

  6. AhHHH, one more day now! :D

Congrats to Joerg on passing the driving test the first time! So steady! :D Pls drive carefully on the day you guys return to your parents’ home, knowing the type of drivers along Bukit Timah road and town.

Thank God for epidural! :) Can’t imagine how I could tahan the delivery without it man. My doc still induced my contractions even though I already had ‘show’. He probably wanted to enjoy his weekend. Anyway, everything was chop chop after the induction. Hee hee. Initially I thought I could brave it all without epidural but the contractions came too fast and too frequent within mins; the pain was too overwhelming for the first timer here. Yang was expecting some high drama in the birth room but too bad for him, the epidural made everything smooth and steady. Ha ha. :)

Remember to down loads of fluids if you’re breastfeeding. You’ll feel thirsty easily and the breasts need fluids to make milk. Do not put your baby on routine feeding from the start. Feed on demand even though you feel that your breasts are emptied. That’s the sure way to tell your breasts to keep producing milk. Once the milk supply meets the demand, both you and baby can settle down to a routine feeding schedule. :)
