The three best ever TV drama series I’ve seen are: The Sopranos, Battlestar Galactica Reimagined, and The West Wing (the latter which I’ll blog about soon).
Of these three, The Sopranos is probably the hardest to appreciate for most home viewers. For starters, it’s a very adult drama series with a huge amount of profanity, violence, nudity, and adult themes of drugs, prostitution, rape and racism.
I watched most of the series when I was in Perth, though for a few seasons the show was broadcast in Singapore on the late night channels, even if butchered by censors here. Moreover, story arcs run can run for multiple episodes and at times span the entire season too.
What was great about this series? Well, everything. The acting, the huge cast of characters that you’ll grow to love and hate, the intricate story-telling set surprisingly in the real-world. Of all the TV and film productions I’ve seen, The Sopranos remains perhaps the only TV production that never feels like it’s made-for-entertainment. It doesn’t adopt reality-TV trappings, but watching the series you’ll never feel that what you’re seeing unfolding on the screen is fictional or made dramatic for entertainment.
The show garnered a scary number of awards, including Emmy award nominations for Outstanding Drama series for every year the series ran, and has also been described as one of the greatest TV series in the history of television.
Funnily, Matt wasn’t really interested in the series earlier on, but he got hooked after I nagged at him to watch at least a couple of episodes.
So, this post is for him: a Mad TV parody of the series. Folks who don’t watch the series will be left scratching their heads, but Matt ol’ buddy, this one’s gonna make you laugh so hard you’d choke.:)

I thought the last scene around the table with Tony, Big Pussy, Christopher and Paulie Walnuts(was it?) was a riot! :)
